Origami part 6 : Archimedean Solids
Created on April 14, 2024.
I got my hand on high quality origami (or washi) paper with lots of shades of colors. It is called "Minowashi of the four seasons", there are four packs, one for each season with a different set of ten pieces of ten colors. Here is their website.
With so many sheets and colors, I decided to tackle the task of making origami models for the Archimedean solids. Some models have a lot of edges (180 at maximum) so I decided to cut each 15cm by 15cm paper sheet into four 7.5cm by 7.5cm pieces, quadrupling the number and reducing the final size of the model by two.

I also tried out using another module for making the model with the old set of color paper on the Truncated Icosahedron. However with this module, the model does not hold together so much, so after a few months of exposition, it started falling apart. I had to rebuild it using glue to paste the flaps inside their pockets. It is much stronger now and it kept its shape to this day.
